AKA Design equips The Farm Group’s Newman Street facility
AKA Design has designed, built and installed a large number of desks for The Farm Group’s brand new facility in Newman Street, London. This 33,000 square foot facility is Europe’s single biggest post house built this year and features AKA Design desks in its audio and video post-production suites.
“We were delighted to win the tender for this project and have been working with The Farm since its Soho Square facility days,” said Guy Wilson, AKA Design’s Managing Director. “We have installed 58 rise-and-fall offline editing desks at their new Newman Street facility, to allow a more comfortable working experience, along with six new custom curved Avid S6 audio desks made from walnut, leather and aluminium.”
AKA has also built and installed three three tracklay desks, two grading desks and an unusual reception desk, lovingly nicknamed ‘The Pill’ due to its appearance, which is watched over in the reception area by the three neon space girls on the wall.
AKA Design has specialised in studio furniture for audio, media, editing and broadcast for the last 20 years. “We have a great knowledge of studio ergonomics and both the operators’ and clients’ needs,” Guy commented. “We also have a good relationship with brands and know the working configurations of each of their systems, enabling us to create practical, attractive furniture for audio, editing, grading and broadcast facilities. We’re currently finalising the latest version of our rise and fall desk, since this style of working is becoming very popular, especially for those in the offline editing community who often work long hours.”
