AKA Design works with Goldcrest on new phase of refurbishments
AKA Design has worked with Goldcrest on its new suite of grading, online and sound facilities – part of the new phase of refurbishments at the Soho-based facility. AKA has designed and built the technical desks in the new rooms, including furniture for two online/QC rooms, a DI suite and a premium grading suite, which will be home to renowned colourist, Jet Omoshebi, as she joins the Goldcrest team.
“We’ve had a successful working relationship with Goldcrest for over fifteen years,” comments AKA Design’s managing director, Guy Wilson, “and we’re delighted to be working with the company again as they enter their next phase of expansion. We were heavily involved with the creation of their flagship Dolby Atmos Theatre 1 in Dean Street, supplying all the technical furniture, and we wanted to bring the same professional look and feel to these new rooms.”
The furniture has been designed to integrate perfectly with Blackmagic Design’s DaVinci Resolve control surface, with classic-style desks crafted from solid oak with inlaid leather panels for the grading suite and online rooms. The DI suite features a long curved walnut desk, designed to complement the furniture from Goldcrest’s stunning Theatre 1. These new rooms will help Goldcrest accommodate episodic drama productions along with long-form and theatrical projects.
