Sweet Justice is an award winning game audio studio based near Brighton. AKA designed a supplied a new audio desk to hold Avid’s new S4 desk, creating space for the engineer and client to work comfortably at the same desk. The desk was made from Solid and veneered Walnut, with custom Nearfield monitor stands and PC rack.
The legionary composer David Arnold asked us to design his new studio at Air Studios, AKA worked on a design that incorporates the Doepfer keyboard, with associated equipment racks and storage. The desk is made from solid and veneered English Oak , with sprayed top racks and vanity board .
Ivor Novello nominated and award winning composer Walter Mair comimissioned AKA to design and build his ideal composing desk has created dramatic original scores for feature films, television drama, and narrative-driven interactive entertainment. We integrated his Dofler keyboard into the structure of the desk gibing him an optimum position to work and compose. The desk was finished in solid and veneered oak with a graphite grey stain finish.
Fully Dolby Certified for mixing cinema commercials & trailers in 5.1 & 7.1, Studio 7 also holds Dolby Atmos pre-mix status allowing us to track-lay in the latest 360 surround sound format. Studio 7 is also the ideal suite for open-room ADR sessions with space for up to 8 clients and 2 or 3 actors, combined with Studio 1’s good size booth & control room setup, SNK Studios can handle a range of demanding ADR requirements. AKA supplied all the studio furniture including a custom S6 studio desk and matching producers desk.
This 2,000sqft Chiswick based studio contact AKA to supply studio furniture to house their 48 channel Audient ASP console and a stunning collection of outboard gear. The studio has gone on the win the Best Studio MPG Awards 2010 and continues to attract some of the up and coming bands and producers.
This relatively new start up company shows how the combination of our custom and product sides of the company can work together. Using a custom veneered walnut top combined with a product rack and D-Command tray, AKA were able to meet their budget on this project. The desk originally housed a 16 fader D-Command, but was easily upgraded to a 24 fader D-Command simply by removing the two “infill” panels.
AKA has been fortunate enough to design and build all of Grand Centrals Post production furniture since it started in 1994. This leading Post Production facility has worked on some of the world’s largest advertising campaigns and has seven fully equipped Post production studios at its Soho base. Two of the studios shown are a decade old but still look current and “on trend” which is an ethos we apply to all projects
Alpha Centauri, dubbed “Britain’s most advanced recording studio” is a purpose built room to hold the clients extensive out-board collection with dedicated programming areas build behind the main mixing desk. The look was enhanced with under-lit glass worktops with a high gloss sprayed finish.
A purpose build studio in the heart of Paris to do all types of production and recording, which meant AKA had to integrate and layout both Mixing, Composing and Sound design areas within the main control room. The clients love of Out-Board was housed in curved fronted equipment racks with vintage Moogs integrated within the working area.
One of the UK’s largest facilities with credits including Pirates of the Caribbean and the Fantastic Mr Fox, has used AKA’s Product line for its editing and sound design suites and we recently completed a new 4K Grading suite. The images shown are of two Post rooms that AKA supplied all the Audio and client furniture including fold-down Voice Over tables and seating.
The Hit Factory
AKA were fortunate enough to work on three of the main studios for the famous Hit Factory New York and were commissioned for the total revamp of the iconic Criteria records in Miami. AKA undertook all of the interior design and custom furniture while being sympathetic to its Miami Deco origins.
This legendry Recording Studio in South West London has been the home for great recording artists such as Jimi Hendrix, The Rolling Stones and Led Zepplin. Sadly in 2009 EMI decided they could no longer afford to keep this world renowed studio open. AKA were asked to do a full revamp of Studio One in 2007 which saw artists such as Eric Clapton and David Bowie use it for it’s last remaining years.
