AKA Design has just launched a new website, featuring its full range of studio and technical furniture along with the latest customer news stories. With 2017 already off to a busy start, the website will highlights many of the company’s recent projects, with stylish images of each install.
AKA Design is currently working with Twickenham Studios, creating the interior design, client furniture and a new Avid S6 desk for Theatre 4, which is the main TV mix room. This is part of the regeneration of these iconic studios, which boasts recent projects including Edgar Wright’s hotly-anticipated ‘Baby Driver’ heist film.
This month, AKA has also designed, built and launched Smoke & Mirrors’ new facility in Amsterdam, providing full interior design along with all client and technical furniture. The project included all furniture for three large online suites, one offline suite, a grading room, production reception, plus a VFX and animation floor with twenty seats. AKA worked closely with Wired Broadcast and local contractors, shipping and installing the furniture in under three days, including all the technical desks.

From editing to grading, and audio to video, AKA’s technical furniture and studio interiors are proving popular in the U.S., with two large grading suites supplied to a facility in Manhattan and a number of editing, QC and track-lay desks heading out to a new facility in Burbank, California. “With our free CAD layout service on all product desks, it’s easy to test how it might look first,” explained AKA managing director, Guy Wilson. “We recently designed a new reception area for SNK Studios and it’s hard to tell the difference between the visual and the finished room!” SNK also has a new Dolby Atmos audio post studio, with an AKA custom-stained Avid S6 desk.
